Help Us Revitalize the Garden at Quaker House!

We need your help!

Councillor Sam Austin has introduced a great new initiative to distribute his allotted District Capital Funds and the Museum is participating. What is it, you ask? The Councillor is giving the residents of Dartmouth Centre the opportunity to get to know community organizations and projects and have their say about how this fund is spent by initiating participatory budgeting.

What is the Museum’s project?

We want to revitalize the Quaker House garden. We want to make it healthy and available for interpretation purposes, and to open the garden up to the public for use as a green space. We want the garden to be a spot where people can sit and enjoy the green space. Funding will cover all the required costs for the garden itself – new soil, fertilizer, and seeds for plants and vegetables that would have been used by the Quakers of Dartmouth. Funding will also be used for two park tables to be placed in the garden, and public garbage and recycling disposals for people to use if they decide to bring food into the garden. The budget for the project is $1,500.

How can you help?

We invite all our community members of District 5 to come and support the Museum on Tuesday, November 7! Yes, all residents – school aged children, permanent residents etc. Bring your neighbours! Voting will take place from 6:00-8:15 pm at the Findlay Community Centre. The room will be set up expo/science fair style with a small table for each community group.

Come support the Museum!
